Germany dangles €14B in front of chipmakers

Germany has set aside 14 billion euros to attract chipmakers, Economy and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck told a gathering of business owners in Hannover. According to Reuters, Habeck called the current chip shortage a “massive problem.” Earlier this year, Intel announced it would set up shop in the German town of Magdeburg with an initial investment of 17 billion euros. Habeck said there would be further examples like Magdeburg.
