Belgian bank KBC will invest about 50 million euros in local start-ups and scale-ups working on nanotechnology, microelectronics and IoT applications. “Thanks to Imec, High Tech Campus Eindhoven and Belgian universities, we have outstanding research institutions in place, which attract talent from all over the world. We expect the entrepreneurship built up in life sciences and biotech to extend into deep-tech fields. And KBC can provide the necessary boost,” says Koen Schrever, Head of Investment Services at KBC Securities.

The KBC Focus Fund is an expansion of the KBC Start It Fund, which has a broader scope. KBC also has a history of participating in other tech funds, such as Imec.Xpand and Qbic.
