The Dutch government is prepared to suspend the emergency order that granted it control over Nexperia, provided China resumes critical chip exports halted amid a diplomatic dispute. The move would mark a de-escalation in tensions with Beijing that have threatened to disrupt European automotive production.

According to sources cited by Bloomberg, the suspension could take effect as soon as next week if shipments from China are verified to have restarted. The decision would also depend on resolving financial issues between Nexperia and its Chinese parent, Wingtech Technology.

The Dutch government assumed veto powers over Nexperia in September, citing governance concerns and alleged misuse of company funds by Wingtech founder Zhang Xuezheng. The intervention allowed The Hague to block major corporate decisions, such as executive changes or relocations, for up to a year. Beijing responded by restricting exports of Nexperia’s products, deepening a supply crunch for European automakers including BMW and Volkswagen.

Dutch Economic Affairs Minister Vincent Karremans said Thursday that talks with Chinese authorities had been constructive and that the government expects chip supplies to resume “in the coming days.”
