De Lier-based developer of climate control technology Priva has acquired a minority stake in smart buildings specialist BGrid. The Amsterdam-based company’s intelligent sensor network makes it possible to optimize occupancy rates, improve comfort and increase employee satisfaction. Priva and BGrid have already been working together on several projects and are now reinforcing their collaboration.

Founded in 2015, BGrid has 30 employees. Its customers include the Europe and US offices of Vodafoneziggo, Unilever, Schiphol Real Estate, Microsoft and Danone. It will use the investment for further technology development and for scaling up, both in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition, the intensified collaboration with Priva is expected to lead to a larger (partner) network and a further exchange of knowledge.

“This is a logical next step in our growth strategy,” says BGrid CEO Bart Melis. “After having worked on the development of innovative smart building technology in recent years, now it’s time for the next phase. With a strong partner like Priva, it will be easier to scale up and to serve more international customers.”
