It’s the end of the line for Pharrowtech

The Leuven-based wireless specialist Pharrowtech has filed for bankruptcy. The Imec spinoff designs chip and antenna solutions for high-speed mm-wave applications, including broadband 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) and consumer electronics such as VR headsets and TVs. “The reason for the bankruptcy is insufficient commercial traction in the FWA market,” CEO and co-founder Wim Van Thillo discloses to Bits&Chips. Pharrowtech is now working together with the court-appointed trustee to find a buyer for the company or facilitate a relaunch.

“As a startup, you have to focus. Unfortunately, this focus hasn’t yielded the desired results,” Van Thillo goes on to explain. “Despite many successful field trials of our product, the order intake remains too small and its growth is too slow to justify further investment in the current difficult funding climate. The decision to stop was made unanimously after extensive discussions with investors, team, key partners and lead customers. I would like to thank everyone for their constructive and professional approach.”
