ASM International has announced plans to build a new global headquarters, training hub and R&D facility in Almere. The company signed a Head of Terms agreement with the municipality of Almere and the province of Flevoland, in the presence of Dutch Economic Affairs Minister Vincent Karremans. ASM expects to invest several hundred million euros in the campus over the coming years.

The facility is to be built in Almere’s Weerwater Southside area, as part of a site that’s being redeveloped as a new High Tech Campus. TNO is currently conducting a feasibility study for a new national semiconductor research institute called the Institute for Advanced Materials & Metrology, which would also be located there. The IAMM would be supported by Imec, the University of Twente and companies like ASM, ASML and Nearfield Instruments.
ASM previously expanded its presence in South Korea, Japan and the United States.
