Intel is “going big time into 14A,” CEO Lip-Bu Tan said in a company video posted on X. “Stay tuned, we’re going to see a lot of great momentum on the 14A in terms of yield and IP portfolio to serve the customer well.”
Last year, Intel said that it needed commitment from external customers to continue with the development and subsequent manufacturing of leading-edge silicon and that it would decide about proceeding in 2026. Given Lip-Bu Tan’s comments, it now seems unlikely that Intel will abandon 14A development.

14A is expected to be production-ready in 2027 and builds on Intel’s 18A node, which moved into high-volume manufacturing in Q425. As noted by Tom’s Hardware, however, the chipmaker’s current 14A investments are based on the capacity needs of its own product division. If the foundry lands major external customers, it will have to scramble to secure the fab equipment in time.
Intel’s 14A may go down in history as the first node to include high-NA EUV lithography in manufacturing.
