Samsung Electronics plans to spend a record 84.4 trillion won, approximately 59 billion dollars, on capital investments in 2026. The budget is up 60 percent from last year, with 76.8 trillion won earmarked for its semiconductor division and 3.9 trillion won for Samsung Display. Including approximately 26 trillion won in R&D, the company’s combined investment will reach about 110 trillion won.
The spending places Samsung alongside TSMC at the forefront of the industry’s capacity expansion. The Taiwanese foundry has budgeted 64 billion dollars for capital expenditures in 2026, up over 50 percent year-on-year. Intel’s latest outlook puts gross capital spending above 20 billion dollars this year, compared to about 18 billion dollars in 2025.

SK Hynix previously forecast 2026 capital spending in the high 40-trillion-won range (up to 35 billion dollars), roughly 60 percent above its reported 2025 investment of 30.2 trillion won (21.1 billion dollars). The memory manufacturer said this week that investment would increase significantly again in 2027 as it expands manufacturing capacity and infrastructure.
Micron spent 30.7 billion dollars on property, plant and equipment in fiscal 2026, which ended on 3 September, or 27.4 billion dollars after government incentives and asset sales. For fiscal 2027, it expects approximately 25 billion dollars in capital expenditures net of government incentives in the first six months alone, with spending higher in the second half.
