Slow market adoption is forcing Eindhoven startup Incooling to close down operations. Founded over seven years ago, inspired by technology utilized at CERN, the HightechXL offshoot developed cutting-edge cooling technology based on liquid carbon dioxide. Later, it evolved into a full compute server provider. This pivot led to record-breaking performance achievements, including building the world’s fastest single-socket server in collaboration with AMD, gaining multiple industry awards, attracting foreign investment and opening doors to leading industry players such as ASML.

Unfortunately, the industry landscape has continued to shift, Incooling writes on Linkedin. “Despite market needs, adoption remains slow due to a deeply settled legacy mindset. After much reflection, we’ve made the strategic decision to close down Incooling’s operations in its current form. Going forward, we’ll focus on integrations into the offerings of major global providers. This approach allows us to scale our impact faster and more broadly, aligning our tech with those positioned to drive market change. For many, this transition means their journey with Incooling comes to a close.”

Details of the new approach haven’t been disclosed.
