Nearfield and Sioux find semicon partners in Singapore
The Netherlands and Singapore are intensifying their collaboration in the semiconductor industry. On the sidelines of the Semicon East Asia conference, companies, research institutions and governments are solidifying their mutual ties. Among others, Nearfield Instruments and Sioux Technologies have found new partners in the city-state.
Nearfield has entered into a multi-year research agreement with AStar Institute of Microelectronics (IME). The partnership aims to accelerate the development of advanced metrology solutions supporting heterogeneous integration techniques, which have even tighter process control requirements, necessitating new metrology solutions. The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (AStar) is Singapore’s leading public sector R&D agency. It runs research institutes in the biomedical and physical sciences, as well as for engineering disciplines.

“Nearfield enables the AI revolution by providing the metrology solutions needed to tackle the challenges of heterogeneous integration, with a specific focus on hybrid bonding. By ensuring precision and reliability, we help manufacturers scale AI chips efficiently, improve yields and reduce energy waste. Our collaboration with AStar IME strengthens our ability to develop breakthrough solutions for the future of AI-driven computing,” says Nearfield CEO Hamed Sadeghian.
Sioux is partnering with Singapore’s Applied Angstrom Technology (AAT) to develop an AI-powered software platform for next-generation semicon equipment. The platform will feature a modular and scalable architecture designed to significantly improve efficiency, productivity and innovation within the sector through real-time data analysis and predictive maintenance. AAT is a deep-tech company focused on atomic precision process solutions for semiconductor manufacturing.
