NXP sells audio business to Chinese firm

NXP is selling its Voice and Audio Solutions (VAS) activities to Goodix Technology for 165 million dollars. The Shenzhen-based firm in human-machine interaction technology will acquire all VAS assets, which include an “industry-leading engineering team” and certain intellectual properties, according to a press release from Goodix.

Goodix specializes in human-machine interaction technology, such as fingerprint sensors and touch controllers for smartphones and other devices. The company claims to be the world’s largest biometric authentication solution provider for Android systems, supplying to renowned brands such as Google, Huawei and Samsung.

“The acquisition represents a strategic move in our growth plan,” says Goodix. “The transaction will enhance our existing mobile and IoT product lines, significantly strengthen our R&D capabilities in audio applications such as hearables, allowing us to offer our customers a more comprehensive portfolio and accelerate our strategic development via innovation.”
