Peter Wennink to assess Dutch investment climate
Minister of Economic Affairs Vincent Karremans has asked former ASML CEO Peter Wennink to produce an independent advisory report on how to significantly strengthen the Netherlands’ investment climate and future earning capacity. The advice is intended to help future cabinets make strategic economic decisions.

Wennink has been tasked with translating the key recommendations from the Draghi report on European competitiveness into the Dutch context. He’s to identify structural bottlenecks, highlight economic opportunities and propose concrete policy actions. The report is expected before the end of the year. The cabinet will subsequently inform the House of Representatives of its findings.
Europe has been dragging its feet when it comes to implementing Draghi’s advice. According to the European Policy Innovation Council, only 11 percent of recommendations have been followed up on one year after publication.
