Radboud quantum quality control tech finds funding
Radboud University spinoff Picard Systems has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding to continue developing its quantum computer quality control system. “With this funding, we want to develop our quality control system from a proof-of-principle to a proof-of-concept, demonstrating that the product works in practice so that we can sell it to users of quantum computers. That’s the start for us; we eventually want to develop a complete solution for quantum storage,” says Picard founder Viktoria Eless.
Due to the unstable nature of qubits, storing quantum information is challenging. Picard has developed a table-top quality control system, which optically scans the surface, allowing for rapid defect detection over a large area. This makes the system scalable in the future for large production volumes.
The funding for Picard was provided by Vroegefasefinanciering Gelderland, an instrument for early-stage investments by the province of Gelderland and the national government. VFF Gelderland is managed by Oost NL.
