Founder Giels Brouwer has decided to leave the data-driven sports recruitment specialist Scisports. On 1 September, he’s stepping down as a full-time board member, to remain active as a strategic advisor and shareholder for one day a week. After eight years, it was time for him to move on and leave the company in the hands of the freshly appointed CEO, Vincent van Renesse van Duivenbode. Brouwer will be taking a break, while contemplating his future.

“As we scaled from three students and a few interns into fifty people in multiple offices over Europe, I saw my role shifting and had to focus more on process and organization, which is not what I’m intrinsically passionate about. I have an urge to unleash my entrepreneurial spirit again,” explains Brouwer. “Also, Scisports is growing fast and we’re in the sweet spot for many football organizations, especially after the acquisition of Inmotio earlier this year. I believe the company needs a different leadership structure in this growth phase.”
