US once again expands semiconductor export restrictions to China

The US Department of Commerce has added China’s top memory maker YMTC, along with 30 other companies, to the so-called “Unverified List.” This means US firms will soon require a license from the US government to export certain goods to these companies. The restrictions cover semiconductor technologies, including chip-making equipment, but also telecommunications, optics and AI technologies.

On top of that, the Commerce Department announced sweeping regulations that limit the sale of advanced logic, semiconductor manufacturing technologies and EDA tools to Chinese companies.
