TSMC is preparing to raise prices for advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes by 5-10 percent in 2026, according to a Digitimes report. The move is said to be designed to counteract pressure on the foundry’s profitability, including tariffs, soaring capex, currency fluctuations and supply chain pressures.
The price hikes will apply to 5nm, 4nm and 3nm nodes and vary by customer, application and order volume. Smartphone and mobile chips are expected to see around a 5 percent increase, CPUs roughly 7 percent and high-performance computing and AI chips up to 10 percent. For reference, TSMC reportedly charges about 18,000 US dollars for a 5nm wafer. A cutting-edge 2nm wafer, the production of which will move to high-volume status in H2 2025, will set you back 30,000 dollars.
