“Metrology and chiplet design are opportunities for the Netherlands”

In the summer of 2024, Invest-NL asked Patrick de Jager to take a deep dive into semiconductors to identify opportunities based on ongoing developments in the industry. This resulted in the report “Semicon deep dive: setting new ambitions” and a presentation at TNO’s semicon event on 3 April. Below is an edited version of his talk.

There’s a lot going on in semicon. In all the years that I’ve been in this industry, it’s the first time that it’s so high on the political agenda. We’re dreaming again about making chips here in Europe, large scale, even at advanced nodes. And while the geopolitical discussions are going on, there’s also a lot at stake on the technical side.
