Qust network crosslinks Dutch quantum and semicon sectors
A consortium of Dutch companies and knowledge organizations have formed the Qust network, which aims to promote collaboration between the quantum and semiconductor sectors. “Quantum technology needs the semiconductor sector’s production expertise to scale effectively, while the semicon industry can gain enhanced performance through quantum materials such as graphene, topological insulators and superconductors. In addition, the ultra-precise measurement and testing methods developed within the quantum sector could be applied to optimize chip manufacturing,” a press release explains.

Qust is a play on the Dutch word for coast, referring to the coastal province of South Holland, which is home to many quantum companies. This province and the regional development agency Innovationquarter are funding the new network. Participating semicon companies include Demcon, NXP, Technolution, Hittech and Nearfield Instruments. The initiative is managed by a cooperative founded by quantum firms Delft Circuits, Orange Quantum Systems, Qblox and Quantware.
Qust will work closely with the ChipNL Competence Center and the Beethoven program.
