Photondelta is launching a global engineering contest to develop new applications for integrated photonics. The most innovative idea to leverage the characteristics of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) will be awarded 50,000 euros in services that help to make the idea a reality. On top of that, participating in the challenge will provide the unique opportunity to position the company for raising a favorable loan of up to 2 million euros by Photondelta.
The contest is backed by a 60-million-euro fund from PhotonDelta, set up to stimulate the creation of new startups and innovative applications in the PIC industry. By offering favorable loans to (pre-)seed companies, the fund supports entrepreneurs and researchers in turning their ideas into viable businesses. The contest is also backed by research institute Imec, photonic foundries Smart Photonics and Lionix International, design houses Bright Photonics and Epiphany and packaging foundry Phix Photonics Assembly.
A jury panel of experts from the integrated-photonics industry will review the submissions, with the winners announced on 2 April 2025.
