Nedap CEO Ruben Wegman will step down from his duties for health reasons, effective after the company’s annual general meeting on 8 April 2026. This decision was made in close consultation and mutual agreement with the supervisory board. Wegman was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in May 2018. The supervisory board intends to appoint Rob Schuurman, currently CCO and member of Nedap’s board of directors, as CEO immediately following the AGM.
Wegman studied computer science at Radboud University in his hometown of Nijmegen. After a six-year commercial stint at Shell, Wegman joined Nedap in 1997 as director of the branch for petrol station automation in Rotterdam. Two years later, he moved to the headquarters in Groenlo, where he took charge of the Security Management business unit. In 2002, he became the company’s managing director (link in Dutch). Since 2009, he has served as its CEO.
Under Wegman’s leadership, Nedap has developed into a specialist in digital twin technology, integrating IoT, RFID, vision, AI and software-as-a-service into a powerful technology stack. With its solutions, it offers real-time insights and automation in markets like healthcare, retail, livestock and security. “Under his guidance, Nedap has successfully combined a fundamental transformation with strong growth and solid financial performance,” says supervisory board chairman Peter van Bommel.
“Unfortunately, the moment is approaching when my health begins to hinder me in carrying out my tasks and responsibilities,” comments Wegman. “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and have full confidence in the future of Nedap.”
