Funding round takes chip designer Magics to inflection point
Flemish IC design firm Magics has raised 5.7 million euros in funding to accelerate the development of radiation-hardened chips and expand its commercial footprint in both the space and nuclear sectors. “This marks a key milestone in our transition from a project-based R&D model to a product-focused semiconductor company,” a press release reads.

Specifically, Geel-based Magics will use the proceeds to roll out three product lines: the Vision series of imaging chips for nuclear cameras and inspection systems, the Time series for precision timing and clock generation in space and the Motion series for sensing and control chips for robotics, actuators and small modular reactors. Customers have already started to evaluate functional prototypes.
The funding round consisted of the Flanders Future Tech Fund, Invest for Job, KU Leuven Research & Development, Gemma Frisius Fund and the founders of Magics.
