Nexperia China’s back-end plants will be able to source all wafers domestically by the second half of 2026, according to an AFP report. “From a supply chain perspective, we’ve completed the shift from global to domestic production in China,” the press agency cites a Nexperia China representative speaking at a company event. Nexperia China claims that locally produced chips will meet existing quality standards.

The move follows a split between Nexperia’s Chinese operations and Dutch headquarters following interventions from the Dutch government and a Dutch court over technology transfer concerns. Although there’s been some diplomatic engagement between Beijing and The Hague, Nexperia China has been refusing to talk to Nexperia Europe.
The firm’s divisions now appear to be heading toward a permanent split, as Nexperia Europe is currently expanding back-end capacity in Malaysia.
