Photonics accelerator Photondelta has kicked off the second edition of its Global Photonics Engineering Contest. Announced at the PIC Summit USA 2026, the competition seeks groundbreaking photonic chip applications that address major societal and technological challenges. The winner stands to receive up to 2 million euros in funding and 100,000 euros worth of services.

The contest is open to startups, companies, researchers and students. Submissions will be judged on innovation, feasibility and relevance to current industry needs. Entries close on 19 June, with the winner set to present their solution on the PIC Summit Europe 2026 main stage in Eindhoven this October.
Last year’s edition was won by MIT spinoff Perceptra with a Raman-based chemical sensing chip.
