Semi lowers 2020 fab equipment spending forecast

Reading time: 1 minute

Next year, global fab equipment spending will grow 20 percent to 58.4 billion dollars, Semi predicts. Although a welcome rebound from the currently expected 19 percent drop in 2019, it’s a downward revision from the 27 percent growth Semi predicted a few months ago. The 2019 contraction was originally also estimated to be smaller, ie 14 percent. These developments come as no surprise, as recently it has become clear that the ongoing slowdown in the semiconductor market is turning out worse than expected and may take longer to dissipate.
