SK Hynix plans to spend 6.9 billion euros on ASML EUV tools, according to a stock filing. The order highlights the AI-driven increase in demand for memory as well as growing momentum for EUV in memory manufacturing. It could also signal increasing competition among chipmakers for ASML’s gear. “There’s a pull-in element in this order to secure equipment supply,” ING analyst Marc Hesselink said in a note to clients (via Bloomberg). The deal runs through 2027 and is estimated to cover about thirty tools.
