Bart Steukers to become CEO of Agoria
Belgium’s Agoria has named Bart Steukers the future CEO of the technology federation. Steukers, who has been working as Agoria’s Context Director since 2016, will take the reins starting 1 April 2021. Agoria’s board of directors opted to make this decision now, to ensure a smooth transition during the difficult times of the coronavirus. Steukers will succeed current CEO Marc Lambotte, who will be retiring.
Before joining the Agoria team, Steukers worked for 18 years at IBM as the public sector executive for Europe, then joined Unisys for 11 years, where he became GM for continental Europe. With his background in the public and private sectors and his history with the federation, Steukers is thoroughly familiar with Agoria and the technology sector. As Context Director, he charted the course for the federation’s activities in the digital and manufacturing industry, helped shape the study center and coordinated the representation of interests.
“The digital transformation requires a broad support base, especially after the enormous economic and human shock we’re going through. I want to bolster that support. No sector of the Belgian economy can escape the consequences of digitalization, but the impact is different for each sector,” says Steukers. “The biggest challenge in the digital transformation is not the technology but the mindset. A company that wants to digitalize must have time and resources, but first and foremost the people. I’m ready to take up that challenge.”
