Delft-based startup Vydar has raised 1.5 million dollars from US investors to accelerate development of its GPS-independent drone navigation technology, FD reports (link in Dutch). Vydar’s system replaces GPS with a combination of computer vision and AI, enabling drones to navigate even under full signal denial. The company says intellectual property remains anchored in the Netherlands despite the foreign capital injection.

GPS jamming is a major concern on the battlefield. Vydar’s compact module uses onboard cameras to match terrain features with preloaded satellite maps, continuously refining positioning without external signals, reaching an accuracy of tens of meters across large areas. This will strongly increase drone mission success rates.
