Dutch chip industry tops 46 billion euros in 2025

The Dutch semiconductor industry generated 46 billion euros in revenue in 2025, more than double the 21 billion euros recorded in 2019, according to new preliminary figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Employment followed a similar trajectory, rising from 23,200 to 43,200 people over the same period. The figures are based on a new dataset covering more than 300 companies active across the Dutch semiconductor ecosystem.

The data includes not only chipmakers and equipment suppliers but also companies providing components and services to the industry. Annual semiconductor-related revenue increased by an average of 14 percent between 2019 and 2025. Most of that growth came from companies expanding their semiconductor activities, with the share of revenue linked to semiconductors increasing from 46 percent to 51 percent. Newly added companies contributed only a limited share of the increase, accounting for around 400 million euros in additional revenue and roughly 2,000 extra jobs.

CBS developed the new methodology by combining data from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) with its own company-level statistics to estimate the semiconductor-related share of business activity. Because the approach is still being refined, all figures are considered preliminary.
