The 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings are out, and one thing is lacking: a strong presence from the Dutch technical universities. Just as in last year’s rankings, it was a relatively poor showing for the Netherlands. Overall, the best ranked TU in the Netherlands was Wageningen University & Research, coming in at 62 – down three spots from last year. Delft dropped 11 places, from 67 to 78, while Eindhoven fell one spot to 187 and Twente again failed to enter the top 200.

KU Leuven maintained its spot at number 45, making it the strongest performing TU in the Benelux region. According to THE, the top-ranked university this year is once again the University of Oxford, from the UK, with the top spot in continental Europe belonging to ETH Zurich from Switzerland, down one spot to 14.
