Eindhoven city council greenlights ASML’s expansion

A majority of the Eindhoven city council supports the expansion of ASML on the Brainport Industries Campus, several media report. A 34-6 vote on Tuesday night has cleared the way for the semicon giant to continue planning the operation, which would roughly double its number of employees in the region to well over 40,000. The supply chain will have to grow proportionally as well. The national government and the city of Eindhoven have pledged 2.5 billion euros to fund housing, infrastructure and talent training to accommodate the growth. ASML is reported to decide by year-end whether it will go ahead with the build-out.
