Nexperia acquires UK fab

After becoming its second largest shareholder in 2019, Nexperia has obtained full ownership of the Newport Wafer Fab in Wales. The facility, currently capable of 35K 200mm wafer starts per month, will manufacture MOSFETs, insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs), analog and compound semiconductor automotive-grade products. The acquisition complements Nexperia’s recent investments in its Hamburg and Manchester wafer fabs.
