This week, Philips announced the laying-off of 230 employees. These cuts, coming from the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, Flight Forum and the location in Best, will primarily affect sales support workers in the health systems division. The tech giant, citing the need for improved efficiency, plans to move these positions to Łódź, Poland.

This isn’t the first time that Philips opted to move work to Łódź, as in 2016 dozens of Netherlands-based employees were suddenly out of work, while financial and administrative positions were transferred to the Eastern European city. By further automating and standardizing financial and administrative processes there, the company believes it’s possible to cut costs considerably.
