University of Twente PhD graduate Anton Atanasov and Jasmine Sharifa have launched their new venture, Angard Microwave. This first-ever joint spinoff from UT and TNO specializes in RF technologies for electronic warfare and cutting-edge communication. Using high-frequency microwave amplifiers, the fledgling company is going to develop portable, high-power and directional systems that protect critical infrastructure, both military and public, against unmanned threats.

Illegal drones are an increasing problem for facilities like airports, military bases and prisons. Angard’s smart electronic warfare systems will help eliminate these threats. “The launch of our company is a huge step toward a safer and more secure future,” says Atanasov. “With our advanced high-power microwave multi-mission solutions, we’re empowering our customers to counter today’s unmanned threats while staying a step ahead of those yet to come.”
