No apparent progress on European TSMC fab
TSMC has no concrete plans to build fabs in Europe, chairman Mark Liu told shareholders at an annual meeting. The foundry revealed last year that it was evaluating options in Europe. Despite the launch of the EU Chips Act, in which Taiwan was mentioned as a like-minded partner, and a recent report that TSMC was in “intense discussions” with the EU, there appears to be little progress since then. “In Europe, we have relatively fewer customers, but we’re still assessing and still don’t have any concrete plans,” Reuters quotes Liu.
