TUE executive board approves campus expansion to support growth
A new lab complex and a new cleanroom will be erected on the Eindhoven University of Technology campus. Thanks in part to commitments from the Dutch government as part of Operation Beethoven, the executive board recently approved the 200-million-euro construction plans. As previously communicated, ASML is contributing 80 million euros to the expansion, which supports training an additional 2,000 master’s students per year in programs relevant to the semiconductor sector.
“This is a crucial step in ensuring we meet the huge demand for top-tier engineering talent, especially in the Brainport region,” comments rector Silvia Lenaerts. “By investing in these facilities, we strengthen both TUE as well as the Brainport region and the Netherlands as a leading hub for semiconductor education, research and innovation, while also reinforcing Europe’s strategic autonomy in this critical sector.”
Preparation and design will start in 2025. Construction of the cleanroom building is expected to start in 2026 while construction of the lab building is expected to start in 2027.
