New ASML CTO Marco Pieters steps into Brink’s big shoes
ASML today announced that Marco Pieters will become chief technology officer, effective immediately, and is slated to join the board of management at the 2026 annual shareholder meeting. Pieters, a 25-year veteran of ASML most recently heading the Applications product area, will report to CEO Christophe Fouquet. ASML’s supervisory board also intends to reappoint CFO Roger Dassen and COO Frédéric Schneider‑Maunoury.

Pieters, a Delft-trained mathematician, steps into a role long held by industry legend Martin van den Brink, who retired in April 2024. Van den Brink’s legacy in pushing lithography and holistic integration leaves his successor with substantial expectations to maintain the technological edge. “After working alongside him for many years, Marco has my full support in driving forward our technology roadmap in service of our customers,” says Fouquet.
