Wingtech seeks talks with Nexperia

Chinese electronics group Wingtech has reached out to the Dutch court-appointed custodians of Nexperia to initiate talks on restoring control over the Netherlands-based chipmaker. The move follows an attempt from Nexperia to reestablish a dialogue, which was initially answered with accusations that the Dutch group was trying to wrestle control from Wingtech.

The governance dispute erupted after the Dutch government intervened in Nexperia’s management in September, citing national security concerns. This unprecedented action was followed by an Amsterdam court decision suspending Wingtech’s control over Nexperia. The Dutch government shelved the intervention last month after talks with Beijing, but the court ruling remains in effect.

Although Wingtech’s latest move could mark the first step toward resolving the internal conflict, both parties don’t seem to agree on the agenda of potential talks, Reuters notes. Wingtech insists that restoring its control is a prerequisite for resolving the impasse. Nexperia’s management, however, has emphasized the need to first reestablish a functioning supply chain.

Nexperia’s court-appointed custodian, Arnold Croiset van Uchelen, confirmed receipt of Wingtech’s invitation and expressed openness to dialogue.
