Quantum Delta NL has been ordered to stop using the word “quantum” in its name. A court in The Hague ruled in favor of German real estate firm Quantum Immobilien (link in Dutch), which has held the EU trademark for “quantum” since 2013, predating the Dutch initiative by seven years.

The seed of the conflict was the House of Quantum, a startup hub for quantum companies in Delft. Quantum Delta aimed to replicate this model across Europe, but the German firm argued that such activities fall within its real estate trademark scope, creating potential market confusion. The court’s ruling extends to the House of Quantum.
Quantum Delta’s management told FD that it hopes to find a solution that would allow it to keep its brand name (link in Dutch).
