Leydenjar partners with Chinese firm to scale silicon-anode batteries
Silicon-anode manufacturer Leydenjar has entered into a partnership with Chinese battery firm Highpower Technology to develop and manufacture high-energy-density batteries for consumer electronics. The firms have already started building pre-production cells, expecting qualification of consumer applications next year and full-rate production of battery cells at Leyenjar’s Eindhoven plant in 2027.

By incorporating Leydenjar’s silicon anodes into Highpower’s cell designs, the companies are targeting an energy density up to 1350 Wh/L, which they claim is unprecedented for consumer electronics batteries. These devices are intended to power new small fitness trackers and smart devices with AI functionalities.
In other Leydenjar news, Nexperia’s development director Paul van den Broek has announced that he’ll join the Eindhoven-based firm as CTO.
