Prosecution: ‘chip spy’ worked with Russian intelligence
The Russian former employee of Mapper and NXP who stands accused of selling corporate secrets also had contact with Russia’s FSB intelligence service, Dutch prosecutors said at a pre-trial hearing (via Reuters). The ties between the suspect, German Aksenov, and the FSB have been relayed by the Dutch intelligence agency AIVD to the prosecution, potentially strengthening its case. Aksenov allegedly sold confidential information related to semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. He is to remain in custody.
