Luceda Photonics in Chinese hands
Ghent-based Luceda Photonics has been acquired by Singapore-based SMTX Technologies, a subsidiary of the Chinese Semitronix Group. The deal pairs Luceda’s photonic chip design platform with Semitronix’s expertise in yield enhancement, data analytics, wafer‑level testing and EDA solutions. Luceda retains its headquarters in Belgium and continues to operate independently.

“This partnership with Semitronix provides Luceda with the additional investment and resources needed to accelerate innovation and better serve our growing global customer base. We plan to expand our product and customer-facing teams and strengthen our global footprint across Europe, Asia, China and North America,” says Pieter Dumon, CEO and CTO of Luceda.
Belgian regulators have cleared the acquisition. Public investment fund PMV, Luceda’s existing investor, has voiced support for it.
