“Globalfoundries mulling $8B investment in Dresden expansion”

Globalfoundries plans to invest 8 billion dollars to expand its Dresden fab, CEO Thomas Caulfield told German newspaper Handelsblatt. Provided the government gets on board, the foundry is looking to double manufacturing capacity by the end of the decade. TSMC, which recently announced a manufacturing joint venture in Dresden, is expected to receive as much as half of the 10-billion-dollar investment in government support.
