Photon IP has rebranded as Photon Bridge and appointed Paul Marchal as CEO, setting the Eindhoven-based photonics startup up for accelerated growth. The company is commercializing a cantilever waveguide coupling technology that bridges III-V materials and silicon, enabling scalable, high-performance optical engines for AI and telecom systems.
The leadership transition follows the startup’s recent 4.75-million-euro seed round, backed by Innovation Industries, Faber, BOM and Photondelta. Marchal, formerly CEO and co-founder of smart glasses startup Morrow, previously spent ten years at Imec, working in the development of TSV and via-middle integration for advanced memory and GPUs, as well as in the Leuven institute’s silicon photonics program.
Photon Bridge’s co-founder Rui Santos will continue as CTO, focusing on scaling the core technology.
