Tomtom co-founder and CEO Harold Goddijn will step down on 16 April after leading the Dutch location technology company since 2001. The supervisory board has appointed long-time executive Mike Schoofs, currently chief revenue officer, as his successor. Goddijn, who co-founded Tomtom 35 years ago, will remain involved by joining the supervisory board after the transition.

The leadership transition comes alongside broader board changes. Co-founder and chief marketing officer Corinne Vigreux, Goddijn’s spouse, will also step down, as will Belgian executive Alain De Taeye. Tomtom was founded by Goddijn and Vigreux together with Peter-Frans Pauwels and Pieter Geelen, initially achieving global success with standalone navigation devices before smartphone apps disrupted the market. Since then, the company has repositioned itself as a provider of digital maps and location technology for carmakers and enterprise customers. It reported 555 million euros in revenue last year and a net loss of 6.4 million.
